I haawwaaiied this track by combining two different rips of Leo Addeo's LP "Great Standards with a Hawaiian Touch" (1962), one of them recently posted at the Easy and Wonderful blog. The two vinyl-rips are done at slightly different speeds and have therefore different pitches. I adjusted the two files with Audacity to the same playing time, without changing the pitch difference.

The cover I assembled in the same way - I combined the cover photos of the two rips, altered them to the same size and added title and info.

This is dedicated to John Oswald and his plunderphonic work, esp. the 'Mystery Tapes'.

Police Believe That Valuables Would Have Been Stolen But for Tragedy.

The discovery of the bodies of two men locked together in death embrace at the bottom of an elevator shaft in the loft building at No. 129 West Twenty-seventh Street was the tragic aftermath to-day of an attempt made last night to rob the establishment of the Wearwell Waist Company, on the fifth floor of the building. It is believed the two men accidentally plunged down the shaft to their death while loading the elevator with stolen silks.
One of the men, a negro, was Robert Green, thirty-one years old, who was employed in the building as an elevator man and caretaker. The other victim, a white man, was identified as Jacob J. Jagendorf, thirty years old, of No. 537 West One Hundred and Thirty-third Street. Jagendorf was engineer of a loft building at No. 115 West Twenty-seventh Street.
The police believe other men were engaged in a plot with Green and Jagendorf to rob the building, to which Green had easy access by means of his keys.
Green left the building at 7 o'clock last night, after closing and locking it. According to Robert Diolen, elevator boy in the building whore Jagendorf was employed, the latter sent him late in the afternoon to Green with a brace and bit and a chisel.
That the burglars had made considerable progress before the fatal accident was shown by the fact that in the elevator were piled fifteen bolts of silk taken from the waist concern on the fifth floor. The police believe that as the men were loading the elevator in the darkness it suddenly went up of its own accord and without their knowledge, stopping where it was found above the tenth floor. Green and Jagendorf, according to this theory, stepping, as they supposed, into the elevator, plunged instead into space and fell five floors to their death. It was then, according to the police theory, that their accomplices closed the open door and fled in terror."

"The invention of the "prepared piano", per se, is usually traced to John Cage. Cage first prepared a piano when he was commissioned to write music for "Bacchanale", a dance by Syvilla Fort in 1938. For some time previously, Cage had been writing exclusively for a percussion ensemble, but the hall where Fort’s dance was to be staged had no room for a percussion group. The only instrument available was a single grand piano. After some consideration, Cage said that he realized it was possible “to place in the hands of a single pianist the equivalent of an entire percussion orchestra ... With just one musician, you can really do an unlimited number of things on the inside of the piano if you have at your disposal an exploded keyboard”."
